Top 3 Favorite Leitmotifs | London Collections FW 15/16

From New York to Europe the runway analysis continues onto some of the most influential cities, starting with London! Giving a nod, perhaps even a wave to the Victorian era with melodramatic gothic vibes setting a historical undertone along with some taking a modern spin. There’s also a wide range of wilderness revelation hitting the textiles in landscape inspired prints and graphics, to the overall styling of each collection. This LFW season totally captivated me beyond measure…

There was a major Gothic tone most prevalent in the London collections, an ode to the Victorian period. With a meshing of the obvious all black and deep jewel tone color stories.

An enchanted mysticism traipsed the runway with the vibration of forest fairy romance. Featuring fall inspired floral patterns, heavy embroidery and the use of rare materials for fabric and accessories.

New York fashion week definitely had a 70s vibe that trickled on over to the London Collections however the overall feel was a little more 1970 meets the meadowlands. Fringed capes reminiscent of the decades old boho scene and long maxi, midi dresses with a ‘little house on the prairie’ style.
